Luton Music Club details

Luton Music Club was founded in 1946, so it can boast of over sixty years of bringing world-class music to the people of Luton and the surrounding area.  It is one of the largest voluntary concert promoters in the country, and covers a wide range of musical interests within its’ chamber music remit; anything from jazz to 12-tone, folk music to opera, piccolo to tuba.

The Club has a close relationship with local education; many of our artists run workshops at local schools during the day before a concert, which has the double benefit of inspiring the pupils, and encouraging to come to the concert, so they can experience how splendid live music is.

The club could not function without the help of various bodies who help to support us.  The Luton Cultural Services Trust, the Steel Charitable Trust and the Making Music Concert Promoters’ Network scheme all continue to support us in financial and practical ways, and without their help the scope of our concerts would be severely reduced.  Our principal source of income is subscriptions, however, and we would urge you to consider taking one out; details are on the Booking Details page.  You will also find there details of the various ticket schemes we offer; if you would like to avail yourself of any of them, we would be pleased to welcome you to as many concerts as you would like to attend.  There are, of course, other ways to help.

Donations

Luton Music Club (reg charity no 264659) is very grateful for the support of music lovers who generously donate to the Club’s finances. If you would like to make a donation please contact the Membership Secretary:

  • John Savage, 16 Lakeside, Tring, HP23 5HN

If you are a UK tax payer you can increase the value of your donation to the Club by signing a Gift Aid form at no extra cost to you! Under Gift Aid the charity can recover the basic rate tax on your donation provided you pay income tax (including tax deducted on any wage or salary under PAYE rules) or capital gains tax sufficient to cover the donation made. This means that, at no extra cost to you, every £10 donated is worth £12.80 to the Club. There is an added incentive for higher rate tax payers - it is possible to recover the difference between the basic rate and the higher rate as tax relief on your annual return.

If you would like your donation to be given under Gift Aid please contact the Membership Secretary for a declaration form.

Legacies

Leaving a gift in your Will to Luton Music Club is one very effective way of helping to ensure the future of your club.

You don't have to be rich, famous or old to include a gift to a charity such as Luton Music Club in your Will. Any gift or donation, large or small, will be used for funding voluntary run music activities enabling the club to continue producing concerts for succeeding generations.

If, like many people, you already have a Will it is possible to add a legacy in the form of a codicil which your solicitor can arrange for you. Alternatively you can download a simple codicil form and guidance notes from this website which you can use without incurring legal fees.
